]]>I was inspired to write this article after seeing an attack on one of my resource bases by a fully upgraded Tank player. On the screenshot below you see that he used Barrage and Artillery to destroy 2 Boom Cannons and then he used Shock on the 3rd cannon, probably thinking that once he kills off the cannons he is good to go. Major mistake! As the tanks landed on the beach and as they certainly did a good job in cleaning up the machine guns (which are deployed there exactly to waste their time) and the cannons, they were showered by masses of rockets coming from all those Rocket Launchers totally shocking the player to the point that the only thing he could do is quickly press the retreat button or lose his entire battalion.

This is of course just one very clear example, but I see this all the time in missions and operations that people go after the wrong targets and ignore the most important defense towers and for that they pay dearly with a failure. So think and focus on the correct towers. In this case a coupe of scorchers to absorb all attacks would certainly be of a bigger help then going after the Boom Cannons and then getting obliterated by the Rocket Launchers.
I also have a video recording of this if anyone wants to check it out, you can see it here:

]]>It is also important to pay attention to the exact amount of damage your Barrage and Artillery are doing because then you can calculate which towers you can take out with precisely the correct amount of energy. For example, on the below picture you see my Artillery at level 17 is doing 3718 damage, which means I can 1-shoot-kill any 3500 health defensive tower or 2-shot-kill any tower below 7634 health. Then I can more efficiently use my energy and destroy a lot of defenses with it.
The Barrage is more difficult to calculate with because it is shooting a little bit all over the place, so the rule there is basically have as high Barrage as you can so it will also do damage to the surrounding towers and buildings. Still a healthy portion of that damage goes exactly where you click so it matters.
So to conclude, if you ever have a choice to invest in upgrading your army units or other tactics / technologies always pick Barrage and Artillery first. And to make them for effective remember also to upgrade your Gunboat and place Energy statues, at least 1 Masterpiece, but a lot of people go for even more.

]]>The Vault is very important because it safeguards your resources, so when you do get attacked then you don’t lose too much. This is especially useful if you get attacked a lot.
The Vault has 2 levels of protection: 1) it guarantees all resources in its own storage, so those nobody can steal and (2) it has a percentage based protection, so the enemy is blocked from stealing the shown percentage. On my screenshot below you can see my level 17 Vault and the additional boost it would get if I upgrade it to level 18. You see that, for example, already 500,000 gold is fully protected by the Vault, so nobody can steal that, and, if I have more than that, then 82% of the rest is also protected!
The Vault is somewhat expensive to upgrade in Boom Beach, but it is definitely worth it!

]]>The disadvantage of this strategy is that you are probably not going to be able to take down the tough opponents, so you have to skip those and hunt on the weaker ones, but when you do successfully storm a beach you certainly have a huge party with all the resources that you capture! 🙂

]]>Check out the player below: He sacrificed a lot of defense upgrades in exchange for a massive offense, which in turn allows him to generate huge resources to do whatever he wants. I strongly believe this is a much better strategy for tank + medic (a.k.a. TMED) in Boom Beach then a balanced approach!
Also note 20 slots is good enough for Medics fitting 4 per boat. Getting to 25 slots is much too difficult and the benefit is not as vast as fitting 3 Tanks instead of 2 Tanks.
So below you have on a sub-level 50 player (I think he was even level 48) a massive offensive power with 15 Tanks backed up by 20 Medics with insane healing capability. Just a pleasure! 🙂

]]>One can even do Barbarians only, but I found that a combination of the two works best because barbarians can be blown to bits by cannons and traps.
