Dragon Awaken Review and Let’s Play Video Series

Hey guys, in this article I present a comprehensive review of Dragon Awaken which is an online multiplayer RPG/strategy browser game by Proficient City. This review article will present the various game features and will also include links to my “Let’s Play” / “Review” video series where you can see the actual gameplay. So let’s get started 🙂

Dragon Awaken – Features

Dragon Awaken is very rich in game features. There are just so many elements that if it were all shown to the player right from the beginning it would be overwhelming. Thus most of the features and game activities are locked at the start and unlock one by one once the player achieves a certain level and/or completes a certain quest. This way the game has time to show and explain to the player all the things it has to offer and, naturally, the player is able to then absorb everything much easier.

The art in the game is also pretty cool. There are great looking monsters, mounts, wings and bosses. Here is for example The Howl which was a boss I liked:

And my favorite NPC in the city was definitely the Arcane Witch sitting on the shoulder of a funny looking creature (picture below). And actually I took this picture during one of the game’s short and fun activities which was to pick up various chests in the city. This is sort of like a race with different types of common (Silver) and more rare (Gold / Pandora) chests spawning, which are all extra free rewards for the players.

The mounts also look great and they are very varied so certainly there will be some you love and some you like less and there are also some really funny/weird designs:

Mount Examples

Golden Dragon and Chamelion:

Radiant Beetle:

Lava Dragon:

Light Chaser:

Inferno Dragon:

In the game your main character can recruit many different Heroes and upgrade them in multitudes of ways. This creates a lot of room for strategy, formation setting and lots of fun with many heroes 🙂

Hero Examples

Dragon’s Fury:

Demonized Boxer:

Imperial Mage:

The various Heroes can be recruited via the Tavern where more Floors get unlocked as you progress through the game. This is, for example, the picture of the 5th Floor with pretty cool Heroes:

Combinations / Handbook

Unlocking different heroes also can form combinations which give you additional stats or Battle Rating via the Handbook:

Once you recruit your heroes you have to assign them to your formation and make a decision about who will be on the front and back rows. Additionally, it is also quite important in which exact spot of the row the hero will stand as there are attack sequences and different skills which hit particular spots.

Your party or team is also accompanied by a dragon. You can unlock a bunch of different dragons who have different elements and skills. One dragon will follow you into battle while all the other ones can be assigned or “possessed” onto the heroes making them even stronger.

Light Whelp dragon:

Features unlocking

As mentioned, more features get unlocked as you progress through the game, which allows everyone to absorb all the information, learn the game and have fun. There are very nice tables which show the players what will be unlocked at what level (assuming the main quests are completed):

Unlocking features level 21 to 30:

Unlocking features level 31 to 40:

Check in, Activities and Rewards

The game is also very good at giving many rewards each day and reminding or guiding players on what they could do next.

Check-in system

The check-in system allows you to get extra rewards for logging in as well as additional package rewards for reaching various levels and also, what is very nice for more busy people, a resource recovery system which allows the recuperation of some or all rewards for things you might have missed.

7 day goal system system:

The 7 day goal system guides you to accomplish various quests and gives great rewards which includes an awesome mount 🙂

7 day Login:

The 7 day login system is similar to the 7 day goals but is much easier. You can claim the rewards simply for logging in – can’t get any easier than that 😛

Faction System

Dragon Awaken includes 2 warring factions and the player can only choose to join one or the other. My character joined the Amity faction (shown below). Each faction has a hierarchical ranking system and players can compete for higher positions in their own faction. There are many positions for Seniors and Managers while the Shaman, Elder and Master are the leaders of the faction based on the best Clan Leaders and Battle Rating.

The Faction system is cool because you have a big war between one another as well as healthy competition within the Faction. You can also participate in various activities together, get stronger through additional stats and purchase items from the Faction shop.

The Faction Leaders:

Faction Master’s main character:

Many other features:

As I wrote in the beginning there are many many things in the game. I will show below some of the various other features:

ASTRO or Astrals can be equipped to become stronger:

Backup Heroes can be assigned to get additional stats:

When away from the computer, you can dig to get additional rewards:

You can equip beautiful wings:

You can do a lot of things in the Blacksmith such as enhancing your equipment, socketing gems and synthesizing new items.

Your main hero can actually switch his skills and become a healer or a tank in a click of a button:

You can battle for glory and compete with other players in the Arena:

You can complete Dungeons to get more rewards:

You can battle huge dragons – this is the picture of me fighting the Tornado Ultra dragon:

You can challenge bosses to pass through checkpoints, get rewards and unlock more features:

VIP Bosses:

The VIP system allows you to get additional game benefits if you choose to become a member:

And here is a pictures of so many icons for game activities which you have in Dragon Awaken (and there are multiple options inside each):

Finally I leave you with a cool picture of a battle and below you will find all the links and videos for Dragon Awaken.

  1. Unless you can and will spend THOUSANDS of dollars just to maintain your heros its not worth the time or effort. The game went from Challenging means to EARN gear and necessary items to ONLY PURCHASED. Either direct purchase…or thru events where you have to spend large amounts of money to So called “Win” the items. Its not possible without huge investment of money and time. Next, the system is poorly maintained. Glitches piling up to add to the frustration and proof the developers are not doing the job of keeping the game functional. I would say not only pass on this game, but tell friends so avoid it as well. A game a poorly operated as this shouldn’t even be rewarded and allowed to infest the gaming world with its disgraceful attention to operational decency. For them, its ONLY ABOUT GETTING YOUR MONEY….I will tell you also..Dont just take my word for it…Go ahead..try it. After 3 days, you will know this is true.
